We always have listed Yahoo as the number one search engine, and this year we
stand corrected. In other people's words, over the past years, we have
heard that the reason for these totals was the fact that the Google users were
more often going for search purposes and it's true - 53 percent go to Yahoo for
mail, 9 go to search.yahoo.com and 2 percent are searching straight Yahoo.com (?

the past years of 2004 and 2005 with our Top 50 US Search Engines and put Google
number one because of this glaring fact; with 75 percent going to Google, the
second visited site and search engine, for search purposes, and 11 percent
(cumulatively) going to Yahoo, the most visited site and search engine, Google
is clearly winning by almost seven lengths!

is an impartial site that isolates the position of any given site, relative to
internet traffic to their actual dot com addresses. We focused only upon
the major US search engines using the Alexa tool.
